Hickorycraft Furniture was founded over 50 years ago in the small town of Taylorsville North Carolina, where furniture manufacturing is not just our profession but a family tradition. Generations of North Carolinians have been building furniture in this part of the country dating back to the 1800’s.
The American work ethic is alive and well here in the foothills of N.C. and is evident in every piece of upholstery we make. With over 650,000 square feet of manufacturing and 700 highly skilled associates, we are the largest private employer in Alexander county.
Custom order is the strength of the company - our consumers can select from over 140 sofa styles, 100 accent chairs, 1000 fabric choices, and 50 premium leathers, all built to order and shipped around the world within a few weeks.
On behalf of future generations, the products we produce in N.C. are also environmentally friendly. All our facilities are “EFEC” certified for best sustainable manufacturing practices and the materials we utilize all have “Earthcare Inside” in order to reduce our environmental footprint.
Hickorycraft is also proud to be the exclusive upholstery producer of the Paula Deen Home Collection. This nationally known celebrity chef brings the warmth of her kitchen into your living room.
We believe in giving back to our community as well. Hickorycraft Furniture is an active contributor to many local and national charities including the City Of Hope cancer centers, Anti-Defamation League, Hiddenite Helpers food bank, Communities In Schools, Alexander County youth programs and many more.
As part of the ongoing commitment to our environmental initiatives, as of 6/1/2014 all Hickorycraft products manufactured do not contain fire retardant (FR) in any of the foam based components.
We offer an Earthcare Inside program for all of our upholstered styles.
We offer Earthcare Inside program featuring environmentally friendly products designed with you in mind. This program embraces components created from renewable or recycled materials, products that have a smaller environmental footprint while maintaining the highest quality and value.
As a member of EFEC, an environmental management program developed by the American Home Furnishings Association (AHFA) to help create and maintain a strong and proactive environmental program within the industry, we are proud to practice the following initiatives.
At Hickorycraft Furniture, we are dedicated to ensuring that our products meet the highest safety standards for your home. We are proud to be a UFAC Make Life Safer Plus (Green Tag) furniture manufacturer, demonstrating our commitment to consumer safety and the environment.
The Upholstered Furniture Action Council (UFAC) was established in 1978 to help reduce the risk of residential fires caused by upholstered furniture. UFAC works closely with furniture manufacturers, regulatory agencies, and safety organizations to ensure that upholstery products meet rigorous safety guidelines, particularly regarding fire safety.
One of the primary reasons UFAC is important is that upholstered furniture can be highly flammable, contributing to the spread of residential fires if not properly treated. UFAC-compliant manufacturers like Hickorycraft follow voluntary standards that have been proven to reduce the likelihood of furniture being involved in a fire-related incident. This means peace of mind for consumers who can trust that their furniture is designed with safety in mind.
By adhering to UFAC guidelines, we are not only protecting our customers but also doing our part to contribute to safer living environments across the country.
The "Make Life Safer Plus" (Green Tag) designation represents the highest tier of safety certification provided by UFAC. It signifies that our furniture not only meets basic safety standards but exceeds them, particularly in the area of fire retardancy. This certification is awarded to manufacturers who use materials and construction techniques that reduce the risk of fires starting or spreading in the home.
Key aspects of the Make Life Safer Plus (Green Tag) program include:
Choosing furniture with the Make Life Safer Plus (Green Tag) gives you the confidence that you’re investing in products that are designed to minimize risks, protect your home, and contribute to a safer, greener planet.
At Hickorycraft, safety isn't just a requirement—it's a commitment to your well-being and comfort.

Our company is deeply rooted in the principle of giving back to the communities that support us. Whether through local outreach or national partnerships, Hickorycraft is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
Here are some of the key charitable initiatives we proudly support:
Hiddenite Community Helpers is a vital resource for our local community, providing assistance to individuals and families in need. This organization operates a food bank that helps to combat hunger by offering essential groceries to low-income households in the Hiddenite area and beyond. Hickorycraft Furniture supports this incredible cause by contributing resources and donations to ensure that the most vulnerable members of our community are cared for.
Hickorycraft Furniture is a proud supporter of the City of Hope, a world-renowned cancer research and treatment center. City of Hope is at the forefront of groundbreaking medical research, offering cutting-edge treatments and compassionate care for patients battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Through our contributions, we are honored to support the life-saving work being done at City of Hope, helping to advance cancer treatment and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
We are also committed to fostering equality, diversity, and justice, which is why we support the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). The ADL is a leading national organization dedicated to combating hate, bigotry, and discrimination. Through education, advocacy, and legal action, the ADL works to protect civil rights and promote a more inclusive society. Hickorycraft is proud to stand with the ADL in their mission to combat all forms of hate and to help build a better, more equitable world.
We believe in investing in the next generation. Hickorycraft Furniture actively supports Communities In Schools, an organization dedicated to empowering students to succeed in school and life. By working directly within schools, Communities In Schools provides essential resources such as mentorship, counseling, and academic support to help students overcome barriers and stay on the path to graduation. Our contributions help ensure that every student, regardless of their background, has the tools and support they need to thrive.
As a company with deep ties to Alexander County, we are proud to invest in the local youth through a variety of Alexander County youth programs. From sports leagues to after-school initiatives, these programs provide young people with opportunities for personal growth, education, and community engagement. By supporting these programs, Hickorycraft Furniture is helping to create a brighter future for the next generation of leaders, scholars, and athletes.
In addition to these key partnerships, Hickorycraft is involved in many other charitable efforts throughout our community and beyond. We regularly donate to a variety of causes, including:
Through these donations, we aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors and create a lasting positive impact.
At Hickorycraft Furniture, we believe that giving back is not just a responsibility but a privilege.
